Hospital VS Birthing Center
Main Post:
I’m very early, but birthing centers near me fill up about 7 months in advance to your due date, so i’m trying to figure out where to register.
Both hospitals and the birthing center I’m looking at accept Medicaid and most insurances, so that doesn’t play a factor in my decision.
I’ve heard Birthing centers are WAY cheaper, primarily because they don’t do epidurals. Like average 4-5K before insurance, whereas hospitals are like 30K before insurance.
I don’t really want an epidural, i’m more interested in Nitrous Oxide (which both offer😭), but I have a low pain tolerance and i’m a little nervous about being in a birthing center and not even having the option available, because obviously I’ve never felt the pain of childbirth before and what if i just can’t do it naturally??
I also don’t like that birthing centers don’t have ERs for in case something horrible happens, what if the time it takes to get to the hospital is a life or death change??
But I know that hospitals will come wake you up over and over again after having a baby, draw blood, IVs, cervix checks, pushing on stomach like all this stuff that makes me really uncomfortable and feel powerless, I want to be able to rest after labor without somebody coming in every few hours. I don’t want ANYBODY taking my newborn out of the room, and I don’t like that hospitals are allowed to say, No we won’t let you leave until all newborn tests are done/first pee. And if you decide to leave against medical advise on they REPORT you to C P S.
It might be different in other states but can you guys please give me your experiences and which you preferred, pros and cons to help me make this decision? I would really appreciate it this is giving me a lot of anxiety

I think that either a hospital birth or a birth center birth can be a fantastic choice. But I think some of your ideas about hospitals might be a little extreme. And I'm saying this as someone who is currently planning a home birth! My first was born in the hospital. A lot of the things you mention as bad things the hospitals are doing are routine practice everywhere and are meant to keep you safe. Pressing on the uterus, waiting for you to pee after birth, cervix checks, baby tests - you're going to get those anywhere! Many (most?) US hospitals also won't take baby out of your sight the entire time, mine didn't. Hospitals are great, safe places to have a baby. They might be overly interventionist and treat a normal safe process like a medical emergency but they are overall very safe places to give birth (for white women - if you are a POC you may have very valid reasons to choose a different place to give birth). For me the worst parts about the hospital birth were the drive to the hospital and the movement between locations (car to triage to delivery room while in labor sucked).
I think the biggest piece of advice I'd give you is to hire a doula if you can afford it! They can help you navigate birth and your medical options at either venue. My doula was amazing! It was so nice to have a trusted face in the delivery room, she gave me so much strength. Then talk to the birth center and talk to the hospital midwives/OBs. Ask them about all these things and see what they say! Hospitals can all be so different, mine was pretty good and had all of the natural labor props including birth tubs (if you weren't past 41 weeks... Dang it!) and were absolutely ready to support the birth that I wanted. Yours may not be so good and that may push you towards the birth center. Or you may not vibe with the birth center people and may want the reassurance of being at a hospital. But I think you need a little more information!
Club Champion vs Titleist Performance Center
Main Post:
I am going to get fit for a new driver (had the 915 D2 for about a decade - can’t believe it came out that long ago). Curious if anyone has recommendations on fitting at Titleist vs. Club Champion. Obviously understand that Titlesit will only have a Titleist products but I am partial to them anyways
Top Comment: As long as they have Ventus and Graphite Design, you will be fine. I have a Tour AD VF-6S shaft in my GT2 8*. Today I hit the 5.5 flex (Regular) Project X Denali Red on a 10* GT2 and was hitting it almost as well...this to say the GT2 kicks a** and as long as you don't swing like 47mph, you should be able to find a Titleist driver that kicks butt for you. My wife hit the 5.5 flex on a 10* GT1 and was getting 25 more yards with no slices or nasty knuckled pulls in over 30 total shots. She's 51 and normally hit it out to about 190 yards with her driver and was getting 215-220 with the GT1.
